First, the basics.

Aubree went to the doctor this morning and everything is great. If the baby comes now, he'll be welcomed with open arms medically speaking. With that, we don't expect him to come tomorrow.

And now for the really short thought of the day ...

We, and by we I mean Aubree, have been working on getting Josiah's room ready for the past couple weeks and I can truthfully say we are about 99% done. His bed is made, the changing table is loaded with diapers and the poster of Yao Ming is placed just right along the wall. Sure we know Josiah isn't coming tomorrow but it would be pretty irresponsible of us to not get at least the basics situated.

So I go into the room tonight to just take a look at everything for a brief second but really to turn off the light since my beautiful wife loves to keep every light in the house on right now. As I am walking out and flick the light off, I notice this faint light below me so I look down and sure enough, there is a night light plugged in and for some reason this hits me in a profound way.

Josiah, there is a 99% chance that you will not come tomorrow and a 99% percent chance that you won't come the day after that. In fact, there is like a 90% chance you won't come this week.

But just know, that when you do come, you got a Mom whose already got your night light on, already making sure you'll never be scared of the dark and already making sure no monsters have the opportunity to sneak under your bed.

Just know you got a Mom that loves you.

Grace and Peace.

To say it's been a while since I last updated this blog would be an understatement. We have a new president, we've celebrated Turkey Day and Christmas and its now 2009. My apologies to all the millions of readers out there, some times life just gets a little busy.

Enough with the chit chat, how's Mom and Josiah?

They are great. We actually went to the doctors office this morning and everything looks exactly how its supposed to. Had an ultra sound done but the one picture we got was blurry so I wont post it here, got confirmation that HE is still a HE and found out that the pain in Aubree's side is Josiah's butt. The mere fact that the butt is there enough to bother Aubree shows he didn't get it from me so I'll be interested to see who the rest of him looks like.

One last thing before I go (shortest blog post ever), if your near Houston Texas this Sunday, its baby shower time. For a couple gift ideas Josiah is still really needing one of these.

Grace and Peace,

Doug and Aubree and Josiah

Stop and Stare

The park in my neighborhood was host to a soccer practice earlier this week and while this probably wasnt the first time for this to happen, it was definitely the first time I noticed. These little kids attempting to kick the ball somewhere closer to the goal then where they originally started but more often than not kicking each other.

On Sunday morning, 100 kids come pouring into the first floor of our building ready and waiting to see what my amazing wife has planned for them. Some in their Sunday best, others in their flip flops and shorts, but all ecstatic that today, or at least for the next hour, its children's ministry time.

In the front of my restaurant we have a playground, complete with slide, cow shaped car, and little spinner things that really serve no other purpose but to spin. To be honest, the only time I ever even get close to the playground area is when a mom informs me there is a horrible smell that is coming from somewhere inside the slide, they just arent sure exactly where and they need me to pinpoint it for them.

All of a sudden though, I find myself drifting more and more to the playground because for the first time in quite some time, I care about spinner things that spin, big slides and cow cars, the first floor of our church building, and soccer practices where you actually need shin guards and I got to be honest, it just gets me freaking excited.

Josiah, we are gong to have a great time.

Grace and Peace,

Doug, Aubree, and Josiah

You should vote for this guy

50/50

Girl

or

Boy

The debate has been on ever since we found out we were having a baby and everyone has weighed in. Everyone at Chick-fil-A has been saying girl but they were also saying triplets so I don't think their votes count. My Mom and Dad had a boy first but Aurbee's parents had a girl first (and what a fantastic sister in law she is) so that theory gets thrown out the window. There is a story of my mother in law putting a curse on my wife when she was younger about how she was going to have 5 girls just like her someday but now she is guessing boy so even she can't make up her mind.

So what's Your guess, boy or girl?

I'll give you a sec to make up your mind.

Okay you got it?

Aubree and I are going to be having a ......

BOY!!!!

If you guessed boy, well done. If you guessed girl, then in 12 years when we go through this again maybe, you might have a chance then.

As for the name ...

Josiah Alexander Robinson

The first name comes from the Dad wanting a name from the old testament that wasn't used all the time and the middle name comes from the Mom really liking the name "Alexander" and yes, we are aware anything with his initials on it will spell JAR.

A boy.

A boy.

A boy.

Grace and Peace,

Doug and Aubree and a baby boy named Josiah

With the first visit we got to see our baby

and

With the second visit we got to hear our baby.

It was one of those moments when you know you are alive, kind of like your wedding day or when you find yourself in a good game of "oh heck" with family and friends.

Mom and Baby are doing great.

Grace and Peace,

Doug and Aubree plus One.
